Unpack, walk dogs and study … is there more to life? *laugh*

January 22nd, 2007

Quick update from school while I wait for the bus. We still have no internet access at home and no idea when we will. Someone came today but apparently the lines in to the house they need to use are broken. Thank goodness I can squeeze in a little time on the school computers to read mail but I am going to have to get my fellow to pay my bills this month when he pays his from work. They were very specific about not doing any sort of internet banking over this network.

Things are slowly taking shape at  home. Slowly being the key word there. Part of it is a time thing, between school, picking up the kidlet, walking and playing with the dogs and homework, time is limited for unpacking. Another problem is trying to decide how to arrange things without really knowing for certain what we need to buy. Our light fixtures are in the apartment still so it is hard to decide what will fit in where. Once we exchange with farmor, we can decide if we need to buy something more and then what we need to go with the new fixtures. We still have not been out to shop for curtain rods so I only have curtains up in the living room where the curtain rod was left and the kidlets room where the curtains themselves were left. I would like to get them up in the other rooms and decide on colours etc. But on the plus side we are all settling into a routine in the house where everyone helps so that things get done as far as housework, laundry and such.

Have had some kind of stomach flu for almost a week and it is a weird bug. I feel nauseated, crampy and have diarrhea but I am also so hungry and have been having increasing periods of hypoglycemia. I think it is totally stress related with the move and school but if it persists I will have to take the plunge and go to see a doctor ….. *shiver*

Yesterday was dog course day and Rusty had a riot in the snow. He has learned to bark at the door now when he wants to go out which is a good thing. But since Saturday night I really think most of the barking is to go out and play some in the snow, not to go and pee. But of course he does that too so I can’t say for sure he is tricking me. *laugh* He had a shower on Saturday, Susan had one yesterday so they are clean but while Rusty needed little more than a shower and a brushing, Susan is going to need a good clipping tonight, since the snow is clumping in her fur in balls.

Llywellyn is settling in slowly. He doesn’t like that the lights do a little flash off and on, since he is scared of the dark. I don’t actually notice it usually, just that the microwave suddenly says 0 again instead of the time. I know it has to do with the wiring in the house and try hard to keep as many lights and such off as possible. This morning it happened when I turned on the washing machine while he was in the bathroom and he was terrified to shower in case we blew a fuse again. So I told him to shower with the bathroom door open. Hopefully he will get to like it there, but he says at least once a day that he would like to move back to the apartment. I feel bad for him, I know he loved living there as did we all. This house thing was a solution to a problem that is now solved so it feels a bit as if we uprooted for nothing. But we will all get used to it eventually, it is great having more space for us and for the dogs. I am hoping once LL has friends over and we get his room done, with his new bed, light fixture, tv and such, he will feel more at home.

It is soon bus time, I have to pick up the kidlet then we will head home and take the dogs out to play for a bit. Ibo has a meeting so I will make LL dinner early and then do something for us when Ibo gets home. Have homework to work on and more laundry to do as well as ironing for the week. So this will not be a relax and do nothing evening. *laugh*

Will we ever be done with unpacking?

January 15th, 2007

It sure feels like we will be unpacking forever but in reality things are slowly taking shape at the house and has only 9 days since we moved.

Thursday we had meetings and the kidlet went to his grandfathers’ apartment and then they both went to his grandmothers’ place. My fellow and I were both done at the same time and met outside the apartment building to pick up the kidlet.

Friday was my first distance class and then there was a mad dash to Sigtuna for swedish. I sent my fellow an sms booking a date for Friday evening after the kidlet went to bed. So we watched tv, drank wine and then snuggled into bed fairly early.

Saturday we did lots of unpacking and sorting. The living room is taking shape and we actually got to sit there in the evening and watch tv while drinking red wine. Farfar came for dinner and helped the kidlet sort out his room. We were late to bed but it was nice to just sit together and have an evening without the stress of unpacking. *laugh*

Sunday my fellow woke me at 0915 to ask when we had to be at the puppy course. It was at 1000 so I hurried and got dressed to take the dogs out and feed them. While I was putting on my jacket my phone beeped and there was a message saying the course was cancelled for the day due to the weather. So I went into relax mode. *laugh* We did a lot of sorting through things and I finished the kitchen totally, putting out our throw rugs and such. Also put mats in the hall and our bedroom. It is beginning to look like a home.

This morning I was at the gym at 0815, worked out for an hour and then came to school. It was nice to get back there, I haven’t had time for the past 6 weeks getting ready for the move and then unpacking after it. I will be able to go Monday and Thursday mornings this term.

The week doesn’t look to crazy, no meetings planned but I do have to do my first assignment for komvux to be sent in on Friday. So hopefully I will get more unpacking done over the week. *laugh*

We have moved!

January 11th, 2007

Quick update from school since we have no internet at home yet. We moved on the 5th and in the middle of our move we had a city wide power outage when a transformer burned. So the last load of the day was unloaded by candlelight and then we booked into a hotel for the night, myself, my fellow, the kidlet and the dogs, were all quite cozy in our little room. *laugh* We had dinner there and then had a good sleep, got up and had breakfast, stopped into the mall and got dog food and found a tv stand on sale as well. Then it was back to moving. We slept at the house on Saturday and it was nice to be there. But my oh my (as Fern would say), what a mess of boxes and bags we have!

Sunday it was puppy course from 1000 till 1130. Then we went home and unpacked kitchen boxes and ate leftover pizza for lunch. At 1500 I had a meeting to go to and it was done about 1730. We picked up sushi for dinner since we still could not get to the stove and then I went back to unpacking.

Monday we went back to school. I went at noon to pick up LL thinking we would come back to my school for math but when I got to his school he had lost his glasses and was really grumpy. Half an hour later we found the glasses and we went home. He has had a hard time sleeping at the house because the because the bedrooms are on a different floor and he doesn’t like being up there alone. So he was a major crank on Monday. Ibo went to work in the morning and didn’t get home till long after I went to bed at 0200. LL had been up and down all night at that point. So when the alarm went off at 0600 Tuesday morning and I woke to find the kidlet in bed with us, I made an executive decision that everyone was staying in bed and sleeping themselves out. I got up at o800, took out the dogs, called our schools and then I removed Ibo’s phones from the bedroom so he and LL could sleep. The kidlet woke about 0930 and my fellow woke about 1030. The kidlet had a lazy relaxing day and my fellow dashed off to work. It worked well though, the kidlet has slept fine the past two nights so I think he was just worn out. Ibo was home a bit after 2100 so he got to say good night to LL.

Yesterday was orientation at komvux and then I went and picked up a few things we needed before I picked up the kidlet from school. My fellow had a meeting after work and we ended up having dinner at 2300. Tonight we both have meetings so the kidlet is going to stay with farfar for a couple hours. It was hard to get out of bed, I have been working hard to get things unpacked and organized and am really really tired. This morning when I sat on the edge of the bed in tears at the idea of getting up, my fellow sleepily pointed out that it is only 2 days till the weekend and then we can sleep in. Yay! ¨

As for the unpacking. It is coming along slowly but it is coming along. We have beds, we have clothes clean and in our closets, the kitchen is done and I have been cooking meals since Monday. Our coats and shoes and boots are organized, the bathrooms are done and I am moving things into the proper rooms from the living room. So it is taking shape. *laugh*

There is a great dog run near the house and we have been taking the dogs there every day to run and play. They love it and it is good exercise for all.

2007 already?

January 2nd, 2007

I remember vividly new years 2000. It was the first one I spent with Ibo since he had gone home to Sweden for christmas and new years in 1997 and 1998. It was so difficult to believe that we were entering a new millenium and now here we are 7 years down the road and it seems like no time has passed.

Life is racing along. We move in 3 days and I have a lot more packing to do and only 4 boxes left. So it could get interesting. Tonight though Meaghan and I are going to see Bounce in Stockholm. I do have all the towels and bedding and curtains washed and bagged and LL’s room is pretty much completely packed now. So far we have thrown out 3 big garbage bags full of stuff from his room and I am sure there will be one more when I do the last closet. Much has been packed up in the living room and I had done a lot of kitchen earlier.

New Years was nice, the fireworks were lovely. We had food coming out our ears but I didn’t gain any weight over the holidays and actually went down one kilo, so I am pleased.  Ibo’s dad celebrated with us, we watched tv, talked, ate and had champagne at midnight, LL had sparkling peach juice. New Years day I made a turkey and we had farfar back for dinner. I love the smell of a turkey roasting, even if I don’t eat it any longer.

The calendar is already starting to fill up for January, it looks like it will be a busy year. *laugh*
